I found this jellyfish like critter while swimming in Panglao. I had Biboy scramble back to shore for a plastic bag to put it in.
The idea was just to take pictures of it and immediately return it to the sea, but I got curious. So, I laid it on the sand and started poking its body with a piece of coral. It was delightfully squishy! My little sister cried out in protest as I continued to jab at the poor thing. It eventually stopped squirming and my sister declared me a murderer. She insisted we give it a proper burial under the palm trees.
Biboy and I also found this hermit crab on the shore.
I started teasing it with my dress laces until its claws clamped on and almost tore the lace from my dress!
I kept it in a plastic cup for the night and pretended it was my pet.
You'd be happy to know that I let it go back home the following day.
I was able to score tickets for me and Biboy to the advanced screening of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button at Greenbelt 3 last night. I didn't really know what to expect of the movie because I've not seen any of its teasers or trailers. I know that the short story from which the film was adapted is in one my compilations of F. Scott Fitzgerald's works. I must try to get around to reading it. I'm ambivalent about Brad Pitt in this movie. His Benjamin Button character reminded me of his portrayal of Joe Black in Meet Joe Black - reserved, curious, eager, and innocent. The CGI effects and make-up were fantastic and very believable. There was this scene where he comes back to Daisy's dance studio, airbrushed to seventeen-year-old-demi-god flawlessness. I was half-expecting him to drop his pants and show his cheeks in that scene, then I remember it's not Thelma and Louise I'm watching. There were some very poignant and sad scenes in this movie. And yes, I did sniffle here and there. I liked how it flowed like a grown-up fairytale. Benjamin's adventures, the cycle of life, love and loss reminded me of how we live in a world full of things with no lasting significance. And yet, despite this knowledge (or is it because of this?), we fight, we feel, we change, we struggle in the hopes of sputtering to the surface and finally, finally finding something that lasts.
